Acute Care
Illnesses and injuries don’t always follow a schedule. At Unifour Family Practice, we set aside time each day for same-day appointments so patients can be seen promptly when new problems arise.
Febrile Illness
A febrile illness simply means an illness that causes a fever. Fever is the body’s natural response to infection, but it can also signal more serious conditions if it is high, persistent, or accompanied by other concerning symptoms.
Our providers encourage patients to call when new fevers arise, especially in young children, older adults, or anyone with chronic health concerns. We reserve same-day appointments for these cases so that the cause can be identified quickly and the right treatment started without delay.
Acute Injuries
We are able to evaluate and treat many acute injuries, including cuts and lacerations. Patients should call first so our staff can triage the injury and prepare for care. Tetanus vaccination history is reviewed, and a booster is provided if necessary.
Acute Medical Problems
We also care for patients experiencing sudden changes in their chronic or underlying conditions. Whenever possible, we schedule these visits with the patient’s usual provider. If that is not available, another member of our team will step in to ensure timely care. Our phone staff is trained to triage concerns, and under physician guidance may recommend immediate evaluation in the emergency department if the condition requires it.
